Government views Africa ‘strategically’

TEHRAN, May 25 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy FM for Arab and African Affairs has congratulated African national independence and global day.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian who was speaking on the eve of Africa Day anniversary, congratulated the day as a reminder of national and global independence of the continent from the yoke of the colonialist powers; “the Islamic Republic of Iran views relations with Africa strategic and of special importance; and it has put top in the agenda improvement and consolidation of friendly ties with the whole continent, and President Rouhani’s cabinet has developed a ‘strategic view of the African continent’ in bilateral, regional and international relations,” Amir-Abdollahian asserted.

He highlighted the Islamic Republic of Iran’s contribution in terms of diplomacy, economics, culture and humanitarian aid, and called for all entrepreneurs of the country to consider the theme ‘A Look at Africa’ as an important opportunity.

Amir-Abdollahian pointed to ‘excellent’ Iran-African Union relations, and dubbed bilateral ties of a ‘growing’ nature in regional and international fields. “Terrorism and extremism is a common concern for Iran and African continent, and the whole world as well; and cooperation will be inevitable in fighting it,” he added.
